Abstract

The present study highlighted to the recently isolated bioactive compounds from marine
algae. Recently, researchers considered marine algae as a rich source of novel bioactive
compounds which could be structurally and biologically active. In our study, we found many
isolated compound from marine algae have potent activity against many fatal diseases such
as Dollabelladienetriol isolated from D.pfaffi have excellent inhibitory activity against HIV1, Phlorotannin as anti-oxidant, Eckol from brown algae to have potent anti-tumour activity
by inducing tumour cell apoptosis, inhibition of proliferation and also the regulation of
immune function by inducing Th1-biased cytokine response. Fucoidan isolated from
Turbinaria cuboids (brown alga) have strong efficacy in pancreatic cancer by endoring
apoptosis. Isoketochabrolic acid (IKCA) isolated from S.micracanthus and Lectin obtained
from Caulerpa (green seaweed) possesses anti-inflammatory activity. A natural brominated
n-octacos-9-enoic acid, isolated from Dictyopteris hoytii (brown alga) found to be active
against ?-Glucosidase Inhibition.
