Impact of Demographic Variables on Mutual Fund Investment Behaviour: An Empirical Study

Abstract

Investment in mutual funds are growing with Rapid speed. The Investments require lot of exercise because they involve commitment of funds which is certain for expected Returns which are uncertain. Mutual funds investment is a midway approach in which returns are comparatively higher than risk free securities but lower than high risk securities like stock market. Considering this fact there is an important role of demographic factors for the approach towards mutual Fund investments. The present paper is empirical in nature in which data has been collected from 392 respondents to investigate the role of age, income and gender and education on mutual fund investments in tension of of investors. It was found from the study that gender is no impact on mutual fund investment intention however middle age group, high income group and investors with finance related education are highly positive about mutual funds investments.One way anova and independent sample T test have been used to analyse the data.
