Abstract

Constructivism is an epistemology, a learning or meaning making theory, which offers an explanation of the nature of knowledge & how human beings learn. The verb to construct comes from the Latin construer, which means to arrange or give structure. In this paper researcher tried to present similarities between Constructivism and Islam. To investigate about similarities researcher utilized Quranic verses as source of data. . For almost 6000 years in our human history, we refuse to accept empiricism as the primary source of education and we lived in a world where we believed, that ghosts and ghouls run our world and flood cyclones and earthquakes devastate our world and floods, cyclones and earthquakes devastate our world when these power become unhappy with us. We lived in world that believed that women do not posses soul and there are certain people who are predisposed to a life.of humiliation and indignity right from their birth. We believed that our world came into existence as a result of some internal fight among those who claimed to be gods. So on and so forth.Islam offered a unique approach to education and the process of information gathering., Islam established the fundamental principle of determining the truth in our physical world when it said: And never concern thyself with anything of which you which hast no knowledge: verily, { thy}hearing and sight and heart all of them will be called to account for it[ on judgement Day] 17:36. In other words use your senses of observation, hearing and analysis to find out the truth of everything that exists in the universe. Thus Islam invited people to the path of empiricsm to explore and understand ther universe. Simultaneously, islam also defined the purpose of acquiring knowledge when it said: but that which is of benefit to man abides on earth. In this way does god set forth the parables In other words, if the empiricism does not lead people to serve humanity for the benefit of all   We learn from Quran ( Surah 2, verses 30-34) that when Allah willed to create Adam, the angels raised concern that the humans will indulge in violence and create strife. Allah the all knowing, admonished the angels telling them that He knew what they ( angels ) did not know. Allah then imparted knowledge to Adam. After so empowering Adam, Allah gave a test of Knowledge both to the angels and Adam. Allah invited human being for questioning, observation and Allah stimulate human being for creation but not copying and imitation.
