Abstract

Honesty and justice coupled with no room for exploitation are few accentuated moral considerations in Islamic teachings that should regulate the institutions of production, business and trading. Never this moral line is to be overpassed but followed unbendingly. The "Preface" and "The Roots of Honour" in the treatise "Unto This Last" written by John Ruskin also articulate some moral considerations in one context or the other for the augmentation and stability of economy. This paper attempts to evaluate the compatibility of moral considerations proffered by John Ruskin with the Islamic rulings on business and trade.
