Abstract

Pinjar, novel is based on the Partition problem of 1947; Amrita Pritam watched the darkness and the violence Partition atmosphere closely. The proposed study attempts to explore gender violence by examining the novel Pinjar, which is a "witness" of violent division. This present paper is shows that how people suffer during the partition of India and Pakistan especially in the case of female. The study attempts to define the wounded soul of women during the partition of India and Pakistan through Amrita Pritams novel Pinjar, The Skeleton. The proposed study expresses gender-based violence of women especially dual identity, marginalization, and powerlessness. The document also describes how conflicts between families, communities and nations are often played brutally and without thinking about the body and identity of women.
