Impact of Migration on Income, Saving and Standard of Living of Rural Migrant at Urban Area of Udhampur District

Abstract

Migration of people is very common feature of all over the world. It is the movement from one place to another place which is temporary and permanent. Behind migration there are some core factors which compel or motivate people to migrate. These factors can be economic, political, cultural, social and environmental. The common type of migration in India is internal migration. More number of people from distant places, mostly rural area has migrated in the cities. There are some crucial changes and results occurred with migration in the life of migrant as well as the areas of sending and receiving. In the present study tiny effort has been made to find out economic status of 280 household who are migrated at urban area from different rural area of the District.  Chi -square method, mean and correlation are the statistical tools have been used to analyze the data. In result the income, saving and standard of living of rural migrant have been increased after migration.
