Occurrence, prevalence and species composition of acarus immobilis griffiths, 1964 (acari: acaridae) from some stored food products in punjab (India)

Abstract

The main aim of present paper was to study an occurrence, prevalence and abundance review of Acarus immobilis that have been recorded in wheat from March 2014 to February 2017 in Punjab. Out of 12 stored food products were examined but Acarus immobilis were found in wheat only. A total of 1220 (37.65 %) samples out of 3240 samples, were mite positive. A total of  6 samples (0.18 %) out of the 1220 mite positive samples were positive for Acarus immobilis. A total of 70 (0.47 %) specimens of Acarus immobilis out of the total 14812 mite specimens were obtained.
