Comparison of Treatment of Stress Reduction Strategy and Traditional Approach to Students with different Personalities and Type of Family in Terms of Academic Stress

Abstract

Academic stress is a major source of stress among high school students that has positive as well negative impact on their academic performance. Academic Stress has been observed as the major cause of problems of adolescents. The result of whom, behavioural problems are also increased. Today students are facing new challenges in academic demands like progress in school subjects, grade, competition with other class mates, understanding what the teacher is teaching, parents desire and expectation etc. Academic stress is an important factor because it is directly related to achievement of an academic goal. Now-a-days it is frequently heard that students commit suicide due to stress of examination or result. It is generally found that students commit suicide either due to non-achievement of the desired goals or due to the firm faith. Each student responds and resolves stress differently. The impact of ongoing and unresolved stress can lead to feeling of depression, physical illness, sleep disturbance and poor coping skills, anxiety and irritability etc. In educational institution it is necessary for students to understand the management of stress and in the present research stress reduction strategies is design to trained students to manage their stress by following strategies they are Physical Strategies Intellectual or mental Strategies Social Strategies Spiritual Strategies and Environmental Strategies.
