Gender Sensitisation: A Catalyst to Revamp the Society

Abstract

Gender Sensitisation is an instrument that can act as a catalystto revamp the line of thought of the individuals can be altered towards the genders. This research paper sheds light on the perception of students towards Gender Sensitisation. An intensive literature review was conducted on gender sensitisation. Themost prevalent areas that trigger Gender Sensitivity were used as the theoretical basis of the study. Four research Objectiveswere developed for this study.The sample size for the present study is 100 respondents, which were collected fromClass IX ofPrivate and GovernmentSchools of Delhi. Percentage and Mean statistical method was used to analyseStudents Perception towards Gender Sensitivity. From the findings, it was discovered that the perception of students towards the four factors of Gender Sensitivity, School Infrastructure & Management, Classroom Practices, Instructional Material and Gender Based Violence isinsensitive. Among the four parameters the most highly ranked is Gender based Violence. Other supremely rated parameters are Classroom Practices. The lowest rank parametersareSchool Infrastructure and management. Training programs should be held on Gender Sensitisation to modify the behaviour and perception of the teaching staff, non-teaching staff, parents and students to create a gender equitable environment.
