Organisational Commitment, Job Embeddedness and Turnover Intention: A Comparative Study on Bank Employees

Abstract

The present study intends to compare Organisational commitment, Job Embeddedness and Turnover Intention between public and private sector bank employees. This study measures Job Embeddedness, Organisational commitment and turnover intention using questionnaires based on Job Embeddedness questionnaire by Holtom, Mitchell, Lee and Tidd (2006), TCM Employee Commitment Survey Academic users guide (2004), an Organisational Commitment questionnaire by Allen & Meyer and turnover intention questionnaire by Brough and frame (2004) respectively. Data from 245 banking employees, (both the public and private sectors) was collected. The two independent sample t test method was used as statistics to compare the variables and it was found that there is a significant difference between the public and private bank employees on the variables studied.
