Abstract

Investors have different perceptions on future capital gains and present cash dividends which makes Dividend Policy a challenging for financial managers and directors of an organization.  Dividend policy is a basic approach for an organization as there is no dividend policy with full proof for all the organizations. Even after several years of research, scholars disagree with the empirical evidence gathered in the context of dividend policy. This paper targets to provide the readers with a far reaching comprehension of dividends and dividend policy and furthermore endeavours to introduce the principle empirical studies on corporate dividend policy. Dividend policy identifies the division of earnings between stockholders to payments and reinvestments in the firm. Task of managers is to distribute the profit to dividends or retained earnings as they are one of the most critical sources of assets for financing corporate growth. Corporate growth makes it in the long run to obtain more dividends. The objective of this study is to comprehend the dividend policy trends in chosen Indian corporate industry.
