A Study of Job Involvement among Faculty Members in Management Colleges

Abstract

Faculties play a vital role in management education system. In this modern era, the education system is transforming day by day which not only is based on theoretical concepts but also focuses on human values, ethics, social responsibility, awareness on environment conservation, training, development etc; in which the contributions of faculty is need of an hour. They act as one of the pillars in society who transform the young generation in different walks of life. As the faculties are core in education system so without their willingness and active cooperation no educational reforms can be implemented. As teaching is an outstanding service and is a very complex activity which involves a range of knowledge, skills, ability, involvement, motivation,  perception, attitude, continuous learning and last but not the least sensitivity. Through their valuable contribution they not only make any institute successful but also by transforming an individual they build a successful nation so for that a faculty must have a sense of involvement in Job. Job involvement nowadays a very useful tool to assess the employees job related behavior. It depicts the degree to which an employee is personally involved in his job. If the faculty has high sense of job involvement, they can effectively provide best outcomes in their professional life. They will not lose interest in work, absenteeism and lethargic behavior is reduced which will enable them to perform their duties in the interest of the organization. Further, on the other hand, if the faculty has low sense of job involvement then it reduces the productivity, interest, motivation in the academic work that may have adverse effect on student and to the society consequently. As in past a few research have focused on job involvement on education sector but rare was found in case of management colleges due to which this research work is undertaken on faculties of management college in education sector.
