A Symbiotic Analysis of NAAC Accredited Higher Education Institutions in the State of Tamil Nadu, India

Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) especially the Colleges in Tamil Nadu with reference to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Accreditation. This paper provides how NAAC Accredited Colleges have performed among the seven criteria and how these criteria have contributed to the overall Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of NAAC. CGPA being a true reflection of the performance evaluation of the HEIs as a measure of Quality Assurance (QA) compared with reference to different types of HEIs in the State of Tamil Nadu. The paper also gives the glance of Higher Education (HE) NAAC Accreditation with special reference to the Revised Accreditation Framework (RAF) of NAAC in the State of Tamil Nadu. Symbiotic analysis of all the ninety-two accredited colleges in the State of Tamil Nadu, India criterion-wise CGPA along with Overall CGPA have been considered for the study purposes. Descriptive and inferential statistics have been deployed for the symbiotic analysis. The paper also deals with the current challenges and future course of action to be taken for Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) of Colleges in Tamil Nadu with reference to status, viz, Affiliated Colleges, Autonomous Colleges, Women Colleges, Co-education Colleges, Government Colleges, Grant-in-aid Colleges and Self-financing Colleges. Performance evaluation of the Crtierion-wise scores in relation to the overall CGPA and its contribution with reference to status have been done in this paper. How the Government Colleges of Tamil Nadu have performed in relation to its Grant-in-aid Colleges and Self Financing Colleges of the State being analysed in this paper. A clear findings based on empirical symbiotic data analysis based on inferential statistical techniques been discussed.
