EFFECT OF OCCUPATIONAL STRESS ON TURNOVER INTENTION: A STUDY WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EMPLOYEES IN CHENNAI

Abstract

The current study has been done to identify the correlation between turnover intention and the occupational stress. The employees of information technology sector of Chennai were selected as a sample for the purpose of the study. The sample size was fixed at 55 and a structures questionnaire was distributed among those employees. The technique used for collecting the data was convenient sampling. The research variables were tested for reliability and validity using data analysis techniques. The results so arrived were assessed using quantitative techniques. On the other hand ANOVA was employed to assess the dependent variable.  The data so collected was analyzed with the help of SPSS software. Turnover intention is predicted by occupational stress. This is the final result of the study. It was found that only three items did not predict employees turnover intention. Further it was found that nearly 91% of the factors of occupational stress had their influence on employees turnover intention.
