Internet Usage Behavior and Its Impact on Academic Performance: An Empirical Study of 11th and 12th Students

Abstract

In this modern technological era, the use of Internet is the trend of modern youth especially school going children. The objectives of the study mainly deal with the effect of Internet users and non-users of secondary school students on their academic performance. Two KendriyaVidalayaSangathan Schools students from class 11th and 12th were the population of the study. Data was collected from 100 secondary school students as a sample. The data was collected from the first 100 students as approached by the researcher on convenience basis but all the respondents belonged to the school only. The data analysis tools are frequency and Chi-square test. It was found from the study that there is a strong internet usage tendency among students of 11th and 12th class; however no evidences of impact of internet on academic performance were observed.
