Management of libraries of Indian Institute of Management: A comparative study

Abstract

The study of the management of libraries among the Indian Institute of Management is discussed.  A questionnaire-based survey has been conducted in the selected Indian Institute of Management and tries to evaluate the current status of the Institute, staff, collection, budget, services, and technical activities. The copies of the questionnaire have been distributed among the seven Indian Institute of Management in September 2019, out of which, five Indian Institute of Management has been responded positively. It was found that all the responded IIM libraries are automated. All IIM libraries are providing internet and Wi-Fi services and have adopted an open access system to its collection. All IIM libraries are providing services like current awareness services/selective dissemination services, plagiarism checking service, reference and information services, document delivery service, interlibrary loan, resource sharing, and circulation service. Based on the findings, the IIM Institute has to increase electronic resources as well as IT infrastructure should be enhanced so that library users will be satisfied with information and knowledge.
