A STUDY ON THE WORK LIFE BALANCE AMONG EMPLOYEES OF SELECTED INSURANCE COMPANIES IN TIRUCHIRAPALLI DISTRICT

Abstract

In this dynamic world, people have to play multiple roles due to the economic and social conditions. There is a requirement for maintaining a satisfactory level of involvement in these multiple roles. Work life balance is one of the important aspect which helps the employees to properly prioritize between their career and personal life. It is a way that assists employees to balance their personal and professional lives. It is considered as a vital concept since it encourages the employees to increase their loyalty towards the organisation. Organisations, on their part, develop several strategies, policies and programs which are mandatory as well as voluntary to support their employees in attaining a balance between work life and family commitments. But the effectiveness and efficiency of these depends on the extent to which the employees make use to achieve work life balance. The present paper is proposed to bring into light the standardisation of work life balance among employees in selected insurance companies. Factors like job stress, job satisfaction, job commitment, target, career development, turnover and absenteeism determines the job performance and job satisfaction of employees in insurance sector. The study is carried out with the employees belonging to Public and Private Sector Insurance Companies of Tiruchirapalli District. For this purpose, the data has been collected from 55 respondents. Percentage analysis and statistical techniques like Chi Square test and ANOVA have been used for testing the hypothesis.
