PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN IN INDIAN POLITICS: AN OVERVIEW

Abstract

Feeble participation of woman in the structural politics cause huge threat to the sustainability of a democracy in India. The level of politics participation of women is very low. There are several social cultural; social economic and social political causes which hinder the political participation of woman in India. Therefore to enhance their participation to satisfactory level there is a need a movement for social emancipation, economic resourcefulness and awaking among woman. Political participation of women is necessary because it makes a positive and significant Impact on the rights and living condition of women. The participation of women in politics and particularly in Parliament is an important political development of last 21th century. Before 21th century, there was very less participation of women in politics. The less participation of women in politics is a globally accepted notion by all the societies of the world, whether traditional or modern.
