Analysis of Education Strategy in Today’s Academic Institutions Vs Corporate Expectations

Abstract

The purpose of writing this paper is to

  • Identify the expectations that an academic institution sets with a student at the time of admission in a professional programme.
  • How adequately does the institute prepare the student to meet corporate expectation.
  • The level of satisfaction that the corporate hires have after they recruit the student.

 The methodology used in this research is exploration. We discuss on expectations, areas of concerns, and gaps that needs to be filled in professional programme. We present several questionnaires to find out the general consensus on these issues from students and corporates.

 Findings:

- There are several skills which are needed in todays corporate scenario, which the recruits lack.

- Most students felt that they were not adequately prepared for facing the corporate challenge. The same is felt by corporate recruiters.

 

Conclusions:

- Institutions need a revision in their strategy and objectives in their tryst to impart a wholesome education to students.

- Academic institutions need to have a more stringent admission process criteria.

- Academic Institutions need to be more focused on enhancing the skill set of faculties through initiatives like Faculty development programs.
