Hiren Bhattacharya’s poetry and folk life

Abstract

Hiren Bhattacharya is one of the most loved modern poets of Assamese literature. His poems are remarkable for using fewer words with depth meanings. Love, patriotism, revolutionary zeal is conspicuous in his poems. Lyrical nature is another important feature of Hiren Bhattacharyas poems. Hiren Bhattacharya usually focused on the rural Assamese world for the subject of his poems. He collected materials from the paddy field, yard, river etc for poetic creation. It at the hand of Hiren Bhattacharya, Assamese folk life got an artistic presentation. The objective of the paper is to examine the presentation of folk life Hiren Bhattacharyas poem.
