Abstract

Entrepreneurship is critical to sustainable development and supporting both economic and social gains. Entrepreneurs are inventors who drive solutions, for the various economic and social issues. The opportunities in India are immense, and the talent pool has lot of aspirations. At present, 91.7 crore out of the total 131 crore Indians living in rural areas, rural entrepreneurship can awaken the youth there and expose them to various avenues to adopt entrepreneurship and promote it as a career option. Government of India has been continuously assigning increasing importance and support for the promotion and growth of rural entrepreneurship. Still the results are not satisfactory. This paper provides an insight into the present scenario of rural entrepreneurship, opportunities, challenges faced by the entrepreneurs with special reference to Bagalakot District.
