The Confession of Love, Loss and Anger in Kamala Das

  • Arpita Sawhney

Abstract

A renowned Indian English poet, Kamala Das was one of the leading feminist voices in the postcolonial era. Das oeuvre covers various concerns ranging from women's issues to politics. Majority of her works are based on personal experience.  The confessional style of her writing likened her to literary icons like Sylvia Plath. Confession serves as a sort of intimate communication where a poet writes on a highly subjective matter. Owing to her immense contribution to the field of poetry in India, Das received the label The Mother of Modern Indian English Poetry.
