RECENT PATENT TECHNOLOGIES OF HERBAL NANO-PARTICLES

Abstract

Herbal drugs have been found to be very effective; having good bioavailability and less side effects as compared to other medicines. They have great therapeutic potentials with wide ranges of indications as a result of diverse active constituents. They possess great potentials to cure many fatal diseases affecting major systems of the body such as heart diseases, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Evidently, conventional drug delivery systems pose major challenges such as poor absorption, low bioavailability, in-vivo instability, lack of specificity or poor targeting capacities and increased adverse effects of drugs. Nanoparticles have good loading capacity and they deliver the drug in small sizes thus increasing the surface are of absorption and further allowing easier permeation through epithelial and endothelial barriers. This review summarizes the all patented technologies ever established on a single document that can be utilized for further research.
