ELECTION RESULT PREDICTION FOR INDIAN POLITICAL PARTIES USING SENTIMENT ANALYSIS OF TWITTER DATA

Abstract

Elections are crucial in India. It is a big festival in democracy. An election is a process by which the people of the country express their collective will. Many political parties are formed to participate in the election such as Bhartiya Janta Party, Congress Party, Aam Admi Party. General election of 2019 was quite unpredictable. If you conclude the Census of 2011, around two crore youngsters turn into eighteen years old. There will possibly be ten crore electorates voting for the first time in the 2019 general election. This concludes that most of the voters were young. Twitter is a platform for many people to share their visions and sentiments about something. Thus we took the tweets of different twitter users, which consist of several popular hashtags of BJP and Congress parties. The tweets contain the textual data and words, having sentiments, we etched those sentiments and categorized them as negative and positive moods using Machine Learning Algorithm and R programming language. Thus if any of the party either BJP or Congress Party gets more positive points will probably win the election
