A STUDY ON GROWTH OF PRIORITY SECTORS BY PRIVATE SECTOR COMMERCIAL BANKS IN MADURAI DISTRICT

Abstract

This paper attempts to explore the growth of priority sectors by private sector commercial banks in Madurai District. The main objective of the study is to analyse the growth pattern of priority sectors by private sector commercial banks during the study period. The study is based on secondary data.  The data required for the study are collected from the Annual Credit Plan, Journals, RBI Bulletin, Government Publications and Books. This study covers 10 years from 2006-2007 to 2015-2016. The total priority sector advances the compound growth rate has been calculated using the semi-log. Compound growth rate = [(anti log b-1)*100]. The total priority sector advances the co-efficient of variation that has been computed. Coefficient of Variability = ( ? / Mean*100 ).  The paper concludes with the suggestions to the findings of the study and the suggestions given in the study.
