Abstract

The importance of ethics for teachers cannot be denied by any means. Teachers are role models for the students. If the teachers are themselves ethical, it is bound to influence the students and ultimately will lead to unethical society. However, things change with the change in generations. To examine the possibility of any change of ethical behaviour of teachers, the present study has been conducted. This study is based on ethical practices followed by teachers and it examines the difference between Generation X and Generation Y teachers with respect to ethical behaviour towards stakeholders viz. Students, parents, colleagues, institutes, and Society. A primary data was collected from a sample of 100 Generation X and 108 Generation Y teachers. Results have indicated that there is significant difference between Generation X and Generation Y teachers. While Generation X teachers are following more ethical practices towards students, teaching profession and Society, Generation Y teachers are more ethical in case of of behaviour towards institute and parents. Towards colleagues, no Generational difference regarding ethical behaviour was found.
