Abstract

The use of power electronic devices is growing rapidly and is mainly used for power conditioning in the electricity distribution system and power system can suffer from power quality problems when the power system is feeding nonlinear loads, which can generate many harmonic distortions. There are many power quality issues that can affect the electricity networks, which are harmonics, flicker, swells, sags and voltage interruptions and can result in increased power losses and power interruptions resulting in poor performance of the electricity networks. Many power electronics devices have been considered for improvement of power quality in grid solar power conditioning and AC Power systems and most research papers presented the use of D- STATCOM, UPQC, Multilevel Inverters, Interleaved converters, AC-AC Matrix Converters etc. Based on the literature done the new methodology will be devised on the current research which will be on solar power conditioning in the connected grid with the use of Indirect Matrix Converter with Reverse Biased-IGBT is considered to be the best solution for future electricity grid. This system will offer a very good compensation compared to the existing system because the losses in the circuit will be reduced and it is more superior compared to the conventional converter. The model will be simulated using MATLAB.
