Abstract

The main purpose of the qualitative chemical analysis is to identify the naturally occurring or artificially manufactured ions in the given sample. This activity has been performed in two distinct steps; i.e. qualitative analysis of sample is followed by quantitative means. The sample was collected from nearby sites of village Chaheru, Phagwara due flowing of a drain carrying chemicals that may have caused contamination of ground water. The results indicate the presence of Lead(II) ions and traces of Mercury(II) ions, along with substantial amounts of sulphate ions that causes permanent harness in water.
