Media Awareness towards Sex Crime and Women in India

Abstract

The violence against women can be domestic and in public, Physical, emotional or mental. India is a male dominated country, where women always face various assault in society from ancient to today. The practice of women sexual violence are in society proves that harassment of women can never end. The media has been making awareness of sexual crime and hindrance. Testing hypothesis that an increase in consumption of media has created awareness of sexual crime to decreasing in the Indian conditions. The model of Cultivation Theory measured the influence of media and making awareness of sex crimes in India. In a report of National Crime Records Bureau of India, mentioned incidents of crime against women increased by over 6% during 2012, and a crime against a woman or girl are committed every three minutes. Newspapers and TV channels, Radio in India carry daily reports of the rapes and young girls, some dead by the perpetrators to hide the crime. Media plays a vital role in exploring sexual assaults and crimes to create awareness to the public in various Tests of the survey shows the suggestion of sex crime prevention highly mentioned in this study.
