Affordable Housing in Punjab – Impact over its Development based on Various Parameters

Abstract

Housing is an entity which is in immense debate these days and is a major parameter to be worked upon in urban area. About 30-40% population in developing nations is still lagging behind in getting pleasure of own house or precisely some are even not having roof over head. With an enhancement of urban development in metropolitan areas, the gap between provision and availability of housing is increasing with a sharp rise and along the advancement of technology; the cost of resources is reaching beyond limits. It has become unaffordable for the people belonging to lower strata to buy a house with his limited income resources. The policy at national level and state level in different states impose different norms and guidelines under which the housing needs to be developed. The parameters which add up to the increase in housing cost are needed to be studied in depth and worked upon to create a shelter which will cater to everyones need and in budget. There is a need to bring a change in the construction world to create something new and innovative that can cut down the various costs and lower down the budgetary demands.
