A STUDY ON JOB SATISFACTION AMONG TEACHERS IN SELF-FINANCING PROGRAMS IN THE CITY OF MUMBAI

Abstract

It is said that teaching is one of the noblest professions. Teachers help the students to acquire knowledge, develop attitudes, impart skills and develop social behaviour. Every teacher seeks independence, recognition and security. If the needs and expectations of the teachers are not met, the unrest and dissatisfaction among the teachers increase and this is unhealthy not only for the teachers but also for the students. Job satisfaction is a combination of psychological and emotional experiences at work. In the context of the research study, job satisfaction will help the teacher to stay motivated in the college and to perform the job effectively and efficiently. The main of the researcher is to study the job satisfaction of the teachers. The hypothesis of the study is: There is high job satisfaction among teachers. The researcher had designed Teachers Job Satisfaction Scale to assess the level of job satisfaction among teachers teaching in under-graduate self-finance programs in the city of Mumbai. A sample size of 100 teachers was drawn from the population to study job satisfaction and random sampling technique was used to collect data from the respondents. The researcher undertook data analysis by applying appropriate statistical techniques, and conclusions were drawn, and necessary suggestions are made by the researcher.
