Fundamental Human Rights and Dehumunization Cultural Acts against Nigeria’s Women

Abstract

Irrespective of cultural diversity across the world men superiority complex against women is considered a stirring mechanism moving the societal operations. This triggered the curiosity to know if a new born baby is boy having attached value to it as against counterpart. Culturally, Nigeria support men superiority in comparison with that of women which goes contrary to the provision of fundamental human right. Many research contributions have responded to issues in relation to this violation but silence to hidden issues that dehumanize the social life of female from three major ethnic groups across the country. The present study will fish out cultural degradation activities prevailing in Nigeria like issue of widowhood practice in Igbo land, denial of women access to inheritance in Yoruba community and issue of girl early marriage happening in Hausa community that necessitated many school dropouts will be major concerned to this contribution. Both primary and secondary data were used for data collection while content analysis was employed to determine the outcome. Sensitization should be encouraged on positive implication of the equality of humans in lines with Universal Declaration of Human Rights; government should work in co-operation with religious Scholars to addressing the importance of education.
